SP95-II double screw extruder system

Anatomy

  1. 1

    Cutting system

The die shapes the product and the rotary knife sets its length.

  2. 2

    Steam injectors

Injectors angled in the direction of flow mix steam into the product.

  3. 3

    Extrusion barrel

Hardened cylinder in which the screw turns with a very small clearance.

  4. 4

    Preconditioner

The mix is heated here before it enters the extruder.

  5. 5

    Gearbox

Transfers motor power to the screw at maximum efficiency, even under high torque.

  6. 6

    Feed hopper

Raw material enters the system through the feeder.

  7. 7

    Control panel

The extruder is run from an independent control panel.

SP95-II double screw extruder system

The twin-screw extruder is suitable for cooking and moulding various kinds of fish feed, dog food, aquarium feed, meat analogues and products that cannot be processed by a single-screw extruder, thanks to angled steam injector ports oriented in the direction of material flow and a unique screw profile that allows steam to be mixed into the product. It can be used to produce special dog foods and treats with up to 50 percent fresh meat (as a percent of the dry recipe) and up to 40 percent moisture without changes.

The barrel is a cylinder within which the screw turns with very close clearance. The barrel is usually hardened to reduce wear, with a resistance jacket. The screw is precisely machined, often with nitriding treatment and sometimes with varying pitch. By changing the assembly of segments (mixing element, kneading element and steam block), the extruder can meet the requirements of different products. The movement of the motor is transferred to the screw through a specially designed gearbox for maximum transmission efficiency even under adverse high-torque conditions. The drive and thrust bearing in the gearbox are of a special design. A sump including a cooling system is available for the lubrication and cooling of the bearings. The extruder is controlled through an independent control panel.
