Story
The link before the food chain.
Around 3.5 billion years ago, blue-green algae began cleaning water and air and producing oxygen. Much of life as we know it today is built on these quiet workers.
Phycocyanin, the pigment that gives spirulina its colour, is quite literally a blue protein. The name Mavi Protein (“mavi” is Turkish for blue) is also inspired by this meeting of water and science.
Spirulina is a cyanobacterium, part of the family of single-celled microorganisms commonly called blue-green algae. It has a spiral structure, with some sub-types forming straight rods. Cells are 5–10 µm wide and grow up to 300–500 µm long.
